Billie Joe Armstrong surprised fans by joining Dua Lipa on stage during her concert in San Francisco on Sunday. The Green Day frontman, who hails from the Bay Area, made a special appearance as part of Lipa’s ongoing tour, where she invites local artists to perform.
Before introducing Armstrong, Lipa shared her thoughts with the crowd. She said, “When I think of San Francisco and its incredible music, one band stands out.” She expressed her love for Green Day, highlighting their rawness, authenticity, and the message behind their music. Lipa reminisced about listening to their albums as a kid, saying she would sing along with her Walkman.
Armstrong then took the stage to perform “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” a hit from Green Day’s album *American Idiot*.
Green Day recently finished their world tour for their latest album, *Saviors*, which was released in 2024. Fans can also look forward to a special 25th anniversary reissue of their 2000 album, *Warning*, set to drop on November 14.
