J Balvin will front a new docuseries about mental wellness that is set to be broadcast on Tplus, the new Peacock content brand from Telemundo.

Titled Gente Sana – which translates to “healthy people” – the Colombian megastar will share his own experiences from his journey to mental wellness. He will also dig into the lives of some of his closest friends and look at how those around him have overcome challenges and how they continue to stay happy.

The docuseries will be comprised of six episodes and will be produced by Exile Content Studio and NBC News Studios. It will be available to watch as part of NBC streaming site Peacock’s Tplus programming slate, although a release date has not been confirmed at present.

Gente Sana follows Balvin appearing in his own documentary The Boy From Medellín last year. The film also gave fans a glimpse into the reggaeton star’s mental health journey, with him discussing his own struggles with anxiety and depression, as well as his rise to fame as he prepared for a concert in his home country in 2019.

In December 2021, the award-winning musician released a deluxe edition of his highly acclaimed sixth studio album JOSE – his most personal effort to date. The record’s original release saw Balvin score No.1s on the Billboard Latin Albums and the Billboard Latin Rhythm Albums charts, as well as No.12 placement on the US Billboard 200 chart.

JOSE featured collaborations with numerous big names, including Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny and Rainy on “UN DÍA (ONE DAY),” Skrillex on “In Da Getto,” and Karol G on “Poblado – Remix.” The deluxe edition featured three bonus remixes of “In Da Getto,” created by Chris Lorenzo, Martinez Brothers, and Henry Fong.

Meanwhile, Balvin will perform the record live across North America from April, going on an arena tour that concludes on May 28 in Toronto.
