Joe Perry Breaks Down his Solo Album, Aerosmith’s 50th Anniversary and More

Joe Perry is back in the saddle again… WMMR’s Brent Porche welcomed the Aerosmith guitarist in Studio Z ahead of his show with the Joe Perry Project later this month in Atlantic City.

On this run of tour dates we’ll hear music from Perry’s upcoming album Sweetzerland Manifest MKII, due out later this year. The LP is a family affair; Perry says he wrote several of the songs with his sons Roman and Tony. The proud dad explains: “I love working with my kids… I mean, they’re grown men now… but I always learn something when I work with them.”

One of those tracks is the new single “Quake”, which you can listen to below.

In addition to the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer himself, the Joe Perry Project features a talented lineup: his longtime drummer Joe Pet on the drums, and the additions of Buck Johnson on the keys (who fans may know from his work with Aerosmith and the Hollywood Vampires), plus Chris Wyse on bass (Hollywood Vampires/Ozzy Osbourne) and Gary Cherone (Extreme/Van Halen) on vocals.

“I’m excited about those songs,” Perry says of the new material, “and as usual, we’ll probably dig out a couple of really deep Aerosmith cuts.”

Perry hinted at what the Bad Boys from Boston have in store for their 50th anniversary, plus what to expect at Aerosmith’s ‘Deuces Are Wild’ residency in Las Vegas, news on the Hollywood Vampires and more. Watch the full interview with Brent Porche below, and grab tickets to the show here.
