John 5 Shreds at the Sellersville Theater

One of the most talented humans to play guitar showed off his skills at the Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA. John 5 (in full makeup with a led mouthpeice) and the Creatures took to the stage of a packed house Monday night and got right to shreddin’. The night would bring us many different styles of guitar not only in sound but also in appearance. John 5 played one that glowed with some green liquid inside, one that was lit by some bright white lights, a mini guitar and even a banjo made an appearance.

John 5 was recording the show for a possible live release I would assume, so there wasn’t much jumping around. They were “trying to hit every note” but the theatrics of the show were memorizing enough. Not only did John 5 wear masks and a shear shaw over his head, we were greeted by a scary clown bopping people on the head with a blowup mallet and we also met a pumpkin head creature the strolled across the stage while some old time scary dialogue was being played.

I have to say the highlight for me, besides when he played ‘Behind the Nut Love’ were the final two songs. John 5 played Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ note for note then played a medley of songs that everyone knew and could sing a long too. Everything from Van Halen, Zombie to Rage Against the Machine.

This was the 3rd time I shot John 5 and there is not a more entertaining guitarist out there today. There are only a few shows left on the tour but if you get the chance to see him this is one performer you should not miss. I’m sure Rob Zombie will be touring in your area again soon, so get out there to see John 5 then!
