K-Pop Singer Somi Teases Visuals For Upcoming Single ‘Dumb Dumb’

Breakthrough K-pop sensation Somi has shared a collection of visual teasers ahead of the release of her forthcoming single “Dumb Dumb,” out August 2 via Interscope Records.

The single’s announcement came via Somi’s agency, The Black Label, on social media. The company shared a poster-like promotional photo featuring a cutting shot of the singer in a new blonde look.

On her own social media, Somi shared early 2000s-inspired photos that cut together pictures of the singer in bright colors and patterns with stickers of smiley faces, hearts, stars and flowers sprinkled across the scrapbook-style images.

“Dumb Dumb” follows up Somi’s 2020 single “What You Waiting For” released last July. Prior to that, the singer had shared her debut solo singles “Birthday” and “Outta My Head” following her departure from the K-pop girl group I.O.I. Somi joined the group in 2016 after coming in first place on the reality television competition Produce 101 and made the decision to go solo from the 11-piece group in 2017.

What You Waiting For” has amassed over 100 million streams across platforms since its release. The track was created with BLACKPINK producer and songwriter Teddy as Somi’s debut single via Interscope.

“I’m very excited to join the Interscope and Universal Music family,” Somi told Variety at the time. “They have a great roster of artists I love and a long history of breaking acts. I’m looking forward to the next steps in my career and can’t wait to share my music with the world!”

“Somi stands-out with her unique and worldly approach to pop music,” said Sam Riback, EVP and Head of A&R at Interscope. “She is poised to be the next international breakout artist and is yet another great addition to the blossoming relationship we continue to build with [Black Label co-founder] Teddy Park, Black Label and the entire YG family.”

While “Dumb Dumb” has not been attached to any official album, project or EP, it adds to Somi’s growing discography, furthering interest in the released to come.

Pre-save “Dumb, Dumb” on Apple Music and Spotify ahead of its August 2 release.
