Kendrick Lamar, pgLang, And Free Lunch Donate to Los Angeles Charities

Kendrick Lamar, pgLang, and Free Lunch have announced a donation to a variety of Los Angeles charities. The donation followed Pop Out, Lamar’s concert on June 19. It brought together artists like Ty Dolla $ign, Steve Lacy, and Tyler the Creator. The main event was a performance from Kendrick Lamar, and featured guest appearances from Dr. Dre and Lamar’s Black Hippy Crew. The Juneteenth performance was streamed over Amazon Prime.

The $200,000 donation was split between 20 local charities and community initiatives. “It’s refreshing to know that Kendrick always comes back to the community to support the next generation,” Chrystani Heinrich, the founder and executive director of Compton Girls Club, told Billboard. “The Pop Out concert had a significant impact on the city,” chimed in Mustard, who also performed.

At Pop Out, Lamar performed “Not Like Us,” several times in full. The song is a number one hit, and is his first solo debut on the top of the Hot 100. At the concert, Lamar also performed “Like That,” as well as a variety of songs from 2015’s To Pimp A Butterfly.

In total, Kendrick Lamar has won 17 Grammy Awards and has received 50 nominations over the course of his career thus far. His most recent album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, was released in 2022. It was nominated for eight Grammy Awards.
