Kevin Bacon Joins Jimmy Fallon on a ‘First Draft’ of Rolling Stones’ ‘Paint It, Black’

Kevin Bacon returned to The Tonight Show last night (March 29) for another installment of “First Drafts of Rock.”

The recurring bit sees Bacon and host Jimmy Fallon performing a “first draft” parody of classic rock songs. They’ve performed many “first drafts” over the years including Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’”. There was even a “first draft” of  ZZ Top’s “Legs” with a little help from Chris Stapleton.

This time around, Bacon and Fallon took on “Paint It, Black,” the Rolling Stones classic released in 1966. In their parody, there were many other things they wanted to paint. Among them was a green apple they wanted painted red and a purple sock they wanted painted tan.

In other Rolling Stone-related news: The band is expected to release new music in 2023. News of a new Rolling Stones album dates back to November 2022. Ronnie Wood shared the band was working on new music, some of which would feature late drummer Charlie Watts. He told The Sun, “We are recording the new album now and we are going to LA in a few weeks to carry it on and finish it off. Charlie is on some of the tracks and drummer Steve Jordan.”

Watts, of course, died in August 2021 at age 80.

In January, Keith Richards told fans via social media, “There’s some new music on its way, and hopefully, I’ll get to see you. Anyway, let’s keep our fingers crossed.” In addition, it was confirmed in February that Paul McCartney plays bass on a track of the new stones LP.
