Kurt Cobain Self-Portrait, Alex Van Halen Drums Sell Big at Auction

Kurt Cobain and Alex Van Halen items were among some of the top bid earners at Julien’s Auctions’ recent “Music Icons” event.

Per Julien’s, Cobain’s self-portrait caricature was estimated to sell for between $10,000 – $20,000, but after 21 bids, it ended up selling for $281,250.

Meanwhile, Alex Van Halen’s 1980 Invasion Tour Ludwig Drum Set sold for $230,000.

Julien’s said in a press release that over 1,000 items went up for bid during their June 11-13 “Music Icons” event. In total, the auction brought in nearly $5 million.
