Lamb of God has just released a new single titled “Parasocial Christ.” Frontman Randy Blythe shared his thoughts on the song, highlighting the impact of the Information Age. He explained that we live in an attention economy, where keeping people glued to their screens generates huge profits for tech companies. “Every second spent scrolling through the lives of celebrities, politicians, and influencers is another dollar in some wealthy tech bro’s pocket,” he said.
Blythe emphasized that we are all products being sold in a marketplace we don’t benefit from. He pointed out the irony of reading this on social media or a music news site, but he hopes the song encourages listeners to think about where they focus their attention. “Forget the clickbait, put down your phone, and go live your life,” he urged.
