Scottish singer-songwriter, Lewis Capaldi has rescheduled his upcoming UK and Ireland tour dates from this year to summer 2022.

Breaking his recent social media silence, Capaldi announced on Twitter that the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions had slowed down the creation of his highly anticipated, upcoming album. In order to create the “best album” he can, Capaldi stated that the original tour dates had to be changed to the following year.

The date changes also mean that Capaldi will not perform at this year’s Latitude Festival in July but will return for Latitude’s 2022 dates. He was originally scheduled to perform at the Obelisk Arena main stage on Friday, July 23.

Discussing the reschedule, Capaldi said “I hate the thought of letting anyone down, especially after the year we’ve just had but I know that, more than anything, getting the album right has to be my number one priority at the moment. I hope you understand.”

Discussing his upcoming album in his recent statement, Capaldi explained “I’ve been writing loads of tunes I’m really excited about and I can’t wait for you to hear them.”

Earlier in January, Capaldi stopped posting on Twitter after confirming that he was working on his upcoming second album after the success of his critically acclaimed 2019 debut Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent. Including standout tracks such as “Grace,” “Somone You Loved,” and “Hold Me While You Wait,” the album peaked at the No.1 spot in the UK and Ireland with “Someone You Loved,” which became the best selling single of 2019 in the UK.

While Capaldi’s touring activities have gone on hiatus, fans did get a chance to see the wisecracking Scottsman perform at Youtube’s Streamy Awards this past December. Catch the performance here.

Promising to return in 2022, the announcement included a new tour itinerary. Visit his official site for more details and see the new dates below.
