Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Someone You Loved’ Achieves Over Four Billion Streams on Spotify

Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi’s hit “Someone You Loved” has hit a major milestone, surpassing four billion streams on Spotify. The song was released in 2018 on his EP *Breach* and later featured on his debut album *Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent* in 2019. It topped the UK Singles chart for seven weeks and marked Capaldi’s first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 85 before climbing to the top.

In March, “Someone You Loved” also became Capaldi’s first song to reach one billion views on YouTube. He co-wrote the track with Samuel Romans (RØMANS) and producers Thomas Barnes, Peter Kelleher, and Benjamin Kohn. Capaldi revealed that he wrote the song as a tribute to his late grandmother and spent six months perfecting it. He believes that great songs often come from hard work rather than being easy to write.

Earlier this year, Capaldi released a deluxe edition of his latest album, *Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent*, but took a break from live performances due to complications from Tourette’s syndrome. He made a comeback at Glastonbury Festival, where he surprised fans with a new single, “Survive,” which he also co-wrote with RØMANS.

In addition to his music, Capaldi has been active in supporting mental health. He played shows in Scotland for Mental Health Awareness Week and partnered with the charity CALM. Last month, he teamed up with BetterHelp to offer 734,000 hours of free online therapy. Capaldi emphasized the importance of therapy in his life and wants to give back to his fans who have supported him.
