Long Island Progressive Tech-Death Outfit MONOCHROMATIC BLACK Releases New Single and Video, “Closing the Gates”

Long Island progressive tech-death metal band MONOCHROMATIC BLACK has revealed a video “Closing the Gates,” the first single from their forthcoming debut full-length album, Vicissitude.

“‘Closing The Gates’ is a song about cutting people off who are only involved to take advantage of you,” the band says. “The track utilizes chaotic interplay between instruments to portray a ‘dodging’ effect, as if one were to actively escape one’s grasp. It is composed with odd time signatures and modulated rhythms to exemplify the unknown yet familiar strife of dishonest people you may encounter with a hard and aggressive timbre on the overall spectrum.”

Formed in January 2018, MONOCHROMATIC BLACK‘s official line up consists of vocalist Tanya Elizabeth, guitarist John Gribbin and Exiled in Black drummer drummer Eddie DeCesare. Joining them on stage are guitarist Dan Rivera and bassist Arthur Erb to complete the five-piece live group.
The group’s first music video and single, “The Herd,” was released in May 2018 followed by “Phosphenes” in March 2019, with both receiving an overwhelmingly positive response. A debut EP, Pneuma, was independently released in May of 2019 along with a short “making of” documentary detailing the recording process of the album and offering insight into the writing process. Since Pneuma‘s release, MONOCHROMATIC BLACK has also released a video for “Warmth of the Sun.”

After the covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020 and concerts came to a screeching halt, the band found themselves in a similar situation to many others and used 2020 and 2021 to write and record Vicissitude, a 10-track continuation of the stage set by Pneuma. Pre-orders for the self-released album and special packages will be available at www.MonochromaticBlack.bigcartel.com/ and https://monochromaticblack.bandcamp.com.
Catch MONOCHROMATIC BLACK on tour in early 2022.
