M Huncho, one of the UK’s most prominent pillars of the trap wave, has released his sonic opus, Chasing Euphoria.

For his debut, M Huncho entrusts a star studded pool of artists and producers including New York’s Harry Fraud (French Montana, Dave East, Jim Jones) to bind together what will be classified as one of his most powerful statements of art thus far.

Born out of his troubles with mental health during lockdown, M Huncho managed to pull himself above waters and come out stronger, using the pain and passion to fuel his motivation to complete this album.

M Huncho cites using classic rap albums such as J Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Future’s Dirty Sprite 2, Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city, Drake’s Nothing Was The Same, and Gunna’s Drip Season 3 as inspiration towards the direction of the project’s sound.

“We had the album’s artwork up on the wall. From each of those records we took something we loved, put them all in a blender, then mixed them up and drank the juice. Then we’d go through the beats with the producers and make something from scratch.”

The melodic artist aimed to create a body of work that would “sweep people off their feet, (and for) people to say I’ve never heard this type of music come from the UK.”

The expedition to euphoria begins with “Unappreciated,” the introduction to the story of his life. Despite feeling stretched thin, the artist expresses his assured certainty of himself and the heights his talents will take him. With a congregation of soulful singers ushering us out of the intro, and into the project, the track audibly foreshadows the growth M Huncho embarks on.

Sustaining a consistent level of excitement and allure for 22 solid tracks is a feat for any artist irrespective of how long they’ve been in the game. However, Huncho proves his decade long run has not been in vain, each and every song is an important contribution to his testament of finally discovering brighter days.
