The second annual Jimmy Buffett Day is kicking off soon! From August 29 through Labor Day weekend, Margaritaville restaurants, resorts, hotels, and cruises around the world will honor the late singer-songwriter’s legacy. Expect fun events, special room packages, drink deals, and a Day of Service with plenty of ways to give back.
The celebrations will support various organizations, including Singing for Change, a nonprofit Buffett started in 1995. This group helps grassroots organizations that promote personal growth and community action. “Our Day of Service reflects Jimmy’s belief in living with purpose and joy,” said Tamara Baldanza-Dekker from Margaritaville. “We invite everyone to join in, whether at a Margaritaville location or by giving back in their own way.”
Each Margaritaville spot has its own unique event. The Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp will host a benefit concert for the San Diego Music Foundation, featuring local bands and a silent auction. Half of the food and drink sales will go to the cause. Over at Fort Myers Beach, a “Carnival of Fun” will support the Autism Connection with sensory-friendly games and special drinks.
Cleanup efforts are also part of the initiative. Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort will hold a beach cleanup and a “Cocktails for a Cause” event for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe will support Keep Tahoe Blue with a community cleanup and donations from bookings.
