Marilyn Manson has been dropped from his record label, Loma Vista Recordings, following abuse allegations from ex-fiance Evan Rachel Wood and four additional women.
In a statement, the label said, “In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately. Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects.”
Manson released We Are Choas, his 11th studio album, in September 2020. Variety notes his two previous studio albums, 2015’s The Pale Emperor and 2017’s Heaven Upside Down, were also released under Loma Vista Recordings via an exclusive license and that Manson retains the rights to his recordings.
Earlier today (February 1), Wood, who has spoken publically about suffering abuse at the hands of an unnamed ex, issued a statement via Instagram saying her abuser was Manson. Wood’s statement read, “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”
Vanity Fair noted Wood has very publically spoken about a past abusive relationship as part of testimonies for sexual assault and domestic violence laws. She testified before a House Judiciary Subcommittee in 2018 in support of the passage of the Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights in the United States. In 2019, she testified before California State legislators regarding the Phoenix Act, which extended the statute of limitations to report domestic violence from one to five years.
Wood and Manson were in a relationship from 2007 to 2010 during which they were engaged before their eventual split.
Vanity Fair also published statements of four additional women who have come forward following Wood’s statement, accusing Manson of abusive behavior.
Manson has yet to issue a statement regarding Wood’s statement.
