Dave Mustaine has plans to pursue acting once Megadeth wraps up its farewell tour. The band is currently on the road with Iron Maiden and Anthrax, with shows scheduled through September. Mustaine shared, “I’ve done a lot of TV work — hosting game shows and appearing in sitcoms and movies. I’m used to being in front of the camera, and I think acting could be fun. If they asked me to cut my hair for a role, I’d consider it! But it would need to be for a guaranteed, significant part.”
Mustaine has some acting experience. He played the villain Torchy Thompson in a 2001 episode of Black Scorpion and lent his voice to the 2017 horror film Halloween Pussy Trap Kill Kill. After Megadeth, he is also interested in teaching music.
Megadeth has been a major force in thrash metal for over 40 years. Their self-titled final album was released in the U.S. earlier this year, selling 73,000 copies in its first week. The farewell tour began a few weeks ago and could last three to five years. The band will perform in South America and Europe before heading to North America with Iron Maiden starting in August.
Fans in Toronto can catch them on August 29 and 30 at Scotiabank Arena. Anthrax will join the tour on September 3 in Montreal at Parc Jean-Drapeau and on September 5 in Harrison, New Jersey, at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Other cities like Boston, Charlotte, and Chicago will also host shows. The tour will conclude with two nights at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on September 25 and 27. Stay tuned for more updates!
