Metallica has fully embraced all of the love from the use of “Master of Puppets” in the season four finale of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
The metal icons upped the ante over on their TikTok where the band shared a clip performing a “Master of Puppets” duet of sorts with Eddie Munson. As if that weren’t enough, each Metallica member is wearing Hellfire Club shirts, and the video is captioned, in part, “Eddie, this is for you!”

This clip is the latest activity between Metallica and Stranger Things in the aftermath of the season four finale. As previously reported, the band issued a statement following the finale saying, “The way The Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away… it’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that? It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”
Additionally, the use of “Master of Puppets” in Stranger Things has led to an influx of people — most of them younger — deciding to explore the Metallica catalog, which has led to some unfortunate “gatekeeping” by longtime fans. However, the band made short order of the gatekeeping fans and shared in the comments on one of their TikToks, “FYI – EVERYONE is welcome in the Metallica Family. Whether you’ve been a fan for 40 hours or 40 years, we all share a bond through music. All of you started at ground zero at one point in time.”
