A three-star hotel room from December 30 to January 2 will cost you around $1,187 for three nights—almost three times the usual January rate!

Not far behind are Rio de Janeiro and New York City, with prices at about $1,172 and $1,164, respectively. Europe has its share of expensive destinations too. Edinburgh ranks fourth, with three-night stays averaging over $1,040, while Vienna is close behind at around $994.

The survey also highlights price changes since 2022. Bangkok saw the biggest jump, with rates up about 94%. Copenhagen and Vienna also experienced significant increases.

But it’s not all about high prices! If you’re looking for a bargain, Phnom Penh in Cambodia is the cheapest city on the list, with average hotel rates around $61 for three nights—over 60% lower than three years ago.
