Mick Fleetwood shared that his restaurant, Fleetwood’s on Front St., has been destroyed in the wildfires impacting Maui and the Big Island in Hawaii.
He shared via Instagram, “Maui and The Lahaina community have been my home for several decades. This is a devastating moment for Maui, and many are suffering unimaginable loss. Fleetwood’s on Front Street has been lost, and while we are heartbroken, our main priority is the safety of our dear staff and team members.”
He continued, “On behalf of myself and my family, I share my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the people of Maui. We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days, month and years to come.”
As of publishing, at least 36 people have died in the wildfires. Per NBC News, fire crews have struggled to get the fire under control due to strong winds coming in from Hurricane Dora. So far, over 100 National Guardsmen have been deployed to assist with the ongoing response to the wildfire. There is currently a mass evacuation of areas north of Maui.
President Joe Biden has approved of declaring Hawaii a disaster area. This will allow federal funds to be sent to aid in state and local recovery efforts.
