My Chemical Romance returned to their home state of New Jersey on Saturday to headline MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The band paid tribute to fellow Jersey legends Bon Jovi by closing their set with a lively performance of “Livin’ on a Prayer.” As Frank Iero and Ray Toro played the iconic riff, Gerard Way passionately sang the lyrics, joking after the first chorus, “It’s so f high!”
The band showed their strong bond, proving that it doesn’t matter if Way hits every note. They were there for each other, and that’s what counts. During the show, Belleville Mayor Michael Melham presented My Chemical Romance with the key to the city. Gerard and Mikey Way, along with Iero, grew up in Belleville.
Currently, My Chemical Romance is touring the U.S., performing their 2006 album The Black Parade in full at each show. Their next stop is in Philadelphia this Friday.
In exciting news, MCR has announced two shows in England on July 10-11, 2026, at Wembley Stadium in London. Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time.
