The arrival today (8) of multi-platinum-selling band Nelson’s compilation Greatest Hits (And Near Misses) is accompanied by the first-ever appearance on YouTube of the video for their US Top 10 hit “After The Rain.” The track is included on what group member Gunnar Nelson describes as “a comprehensive career-spanning collection of Nelson’s most shining moments.”

Gunnar and brother Matthew Nelson, Santa Monica natives and sons of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and enduring star Rick Nelson, have their retrospective out via the new partnership between their Stone Canyon Records label and Ume/Universal. It includes Nelson’s 1990 US No.1 anthem “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection,” other hits from their two releases on Geffen, and other notable tracks from the albums that followed.

“Start to finish, this is an album that we’re truly proud of,” says Gunnar, “and the very first thing any music fan should pick up if they ever wondered what Nelson is all about.”

Greatest Hits (And Near Misses) was introduced by the recent release, and digital debut. of “Too Many Dreams,” a track that was previously only officially available in Japan as a 1991 single and as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of After The Rain. That 1990 album was certified double platinum by the RIAA in 1998, having gone gold three months after release and platinum early in 1991.

The new collection includes all of Nelson’s signature hits as well as three songs from their second album, 1995’s Because They Can, and eight additional tracks licensed from the Nelsons and Stone Canyon Records. Among these are the newly-recorded acoustic version of “Keep One Heart,” a song which originated on their Perfect Storm live album.

The duo are also in live action with their own tribute show to their father, Ricky Nelson Remembered, with numerous upcoming dates including three over this weekend in Las Vegas.
