Nine Inch Nails won Best Rock Song for “As Alive as You Need Me to Be” from the Tron: Ares soundtrack at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards. This marks their first win in 30 years! Trent Reznor and his bandmates beat out Hayley Williams for the award but chose to skip the Premiere Ceremony.
Throughout their career, Nine Inch Nails has received 13 nominations. Their last win was back in 1996 when a live version of “Happiness in Slavery” took home Best Metal Performance. They also won Best Metal Performance in 1993. After nine consecutive nominations without a win, Sunday’s ceremony finally ended that dry spell.
Reznor shared his thoughts on the win, saying it feels less like a comeback and more like a reminder that he doesn’t need to follow trends. He pointed out that many artists in the genre still sound like they’re trying to catch up to him.
This year also marked the GRAMMY debuts for Sleep Token and Yungblud. Yungblud, the English pop-punk star, received three nominations, while the masked metal band Sleep Token earned one nod.
Last year, St. Vincent won Best Rock Song, and during her acceptance speech, Annie Clark shared some exciting personal news—she’s married and raising a daughter.
Overall, it was a memorable night for Nine Inch Nails and a great showcase for new talent in the music scene. Fans are excited to see what’s next for these artists!
