Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Tron: Ares’ Soundtrack Release Date Announced

The soundtrack for TRON: Ares, created by Nine Inch Nails, will be released on September 19th through Interscope Records. This is the first soundtrack credited to Nine Inch Nails, even though Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have worked on 20 film scores together before. The Disney film hits U.S. theaters on October 10th, 2025.

The TRON: Ares soundtrack will include 24 tracks, featuring the single “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” which is available for streaming now. The original 1982 TRON film had music by Wendy Carlos, while the 2010 sequel, TRON: Legacy, was scored by Daft Punk.

Ross mentioned that their score for Ares is different from previous TRON soundtracks, aiming to push the boundaries of what music can do in film. He said, “If you’re going to do it, then you may as well take a big swing.”

When Disney approached them to score Ares, they were excited to work under the Nine Inch Nails name. Reznor shared that their score has no orchestral elements and can sound precise and even unpleasant at times. They focused on themes of artificial life and its emotions, exploring questions of purpose and replaceability.

Reznor and Ross began their film scoring career in 2008 with The Social Network, winning an Oscar and a Golden Globe. They have since scored various projects, including the HBO series Watchmen, which earned them an Emmy, and the Pixar film Soul, which won multiple awards.

Nine Inch Nails will start their North American “Peel It Back” world tour on August 6th in Oakland, CA. Due to high demand, some limited view seats are now available for the sold-out tour. Check their website for ticket info. Don’t forget to order the TRON: Ares soundtrack!
