Nothing More Grinds Through the Night in Bethlehem

The Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem was firing on all cylinders, as Nothing More brought their latest tour to a packed house. The energy was high from the jump, with Doobie, Archers, and Catch Your Breath setting a massive tone for the night and getting the crowd moving early. By the time the headliners were ready to take the stage, the room was electric, though it was about to be a different kind of night than anyone expected.

Right out of the gate with “HOUSE ON SAND,” it was clear frontman Jonny Hawkins was struggling. He actually called it out himself early on, mentioning he had a “frog in his throat.” You could hear the strain, but in a weird way, it made the whole performance feel more raw. Instead of hiding behind a backing track or cutting the night short, he just leaned into it. The rasp actually added a pretty cool, desperate edge to “ANGEL SONG” and “IF IT DOESN’T HURT.”

Even with his voice under fire, Jonny didn’t slow down for a second. He was still a complete maniac on stage, and the rest of the band (Mark, Daniel, and Ben) really stepped up to carry the weight. The show still featured a massive production setup that filled the stage, ensuring the visual impact matched the sheer volume of the new CARNAL tracks.

The Bethlehem crowd definitely had his back, too. During “Jenny” and “Go to War,” the fans were singing so loud they practically took over the lead vocals, which gave Jonny a bit of a breather. By the time they hit the closer, “This Is the Time (Ballast),” the place was vibrating.

It wasn’t a “perfect” technical performance, but that is what made it great. Seeing a band push through a rough night and still kill it proves they are the real deal. If you were there, you saw a group of guys give everything they had left in the tank.
