Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, And Bad Bunny Win Big At The People’s Choice Awards

The annual fan-voted People’s Choice Awards — which spans 40 categories and honors numerous forms of entertainment across movies, television, music, and pop culture — celebrated Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, and a number of other artists for monumental releases in 2021.

Additionally, honorary awards were also handed out to Christina Aguilera, who received the inaugural Music Icon Award, Halle Berry, who got the People’s Icon Award, and Kim Kardashian, who landed the Fashion Icon Award.

Olivia Rodrigo won The Album of 2021 award for Sour and The New Artist of 2021, while BTS took home hardware for The Group of 2021, The Song of 2021 for “Butter,” and the Music Video of 2021 for “Butter” as well. In other categories, Lil Nas X was honored with The Male Artist of 2021, while Blake Shelton won The Country Artist of 2021. Additionally, Bad Bunny won for The Latin Artist of 2021.

It’s been an exciting time for Rodrigo, who dropped her NPR Tiny Desk (Home) video yesterday (December 7). She performed a stripped-down set of Sour hits at the DMV. The setting was a nice wink to her breakout hit “Drivers License,” which she performed during the set. While Rodrigo had her backing band with her, her rendition of “Drivers License” was a solo performance.

Rodrigo opened her Tiny Desk set with a full-band, all-acoustic version of “Good 4 U.” She also performed “Traitor” and “Deja Vu.”

The news follows Rodrigo’s announcement of a worldwide tour in support of her groundbreaking debut album Sour, set to kick off in the United States in April of 2022.

Supporting Rodrigo on select dates of the tour, which starts in North America before heading to Europe in June and ending in the UK in July, will be Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, and Baby Queen.

Olivia Rodrigo and Phoebe Bridgers recently engaged in a discussion via Instagram Live, after both appeared on the television program Austin City Limits.

The two singer-songwriters both appeared on the December 4 episode of the PBS show, showcasing performances filmed at Austin’s Moody Theatre – marking Rodrigo’s first-ever visit to the Texan city.
