Ozzy Osbourne Matches Highest Billboard Debut with ‘Ordinary Man’

Ozzy Osbourne faced some stiff competition the week he released his latest album Ordinary Man, but The Prince of Darkness managed to tie his highest Billboard album chart debut.

Per BillboardOrdinary Man debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart moving 77,000 units, with album sales accounting for 65,000. This debut ties Ordinary Man with Osbournes 2007 album Black Rain which also debut at number three on the Billboard 200.

Osbourne was edged out by rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again whose Still Flexin, Still Steppin came in at number two with 91,000 units. However, neither Osbourne or YoungBoy were a match for South Korean boy band BTS whose Map of the Soul: 7 moved a staggering 422,000 units, with 347,000 coming from album sales and becoming the biggest chart week so far for any album released in 2020.

In other parts of the world, Ordinary Man did very well, with the album netting Osbourne his highest album chart ranking in the U.K. debuting at number three. Up until now, his highest solo album ranking on the U.K. charts came in 1980 when his debut album, Blizzard of Ozz, peaked at number seven.
