Ozzy Osbourne’s Grammy Wins Message: ‘I Love You All & F— Off!’

Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t in attendance during the Grammy’s Premiere Ceremony where he won two awards. However, the Prince of Darkness had a very on-brand message for everyone.

Producer Andrew Watt accepted Ozzy’s Grammys on his behalf. During his speech after winning Best Metal Performance for “Degradation Rules,” Watt said, “I talked to Ozzy on the car ride over and he had two messages for the people: I love you all, and f— off!” Osbourne also won the Grammy for Best Rock Album for Patient Number Nine.

Ozzy’s Grammy-winning message is certainly different from his reaction to his nominations. Following the Grammy nomination announcement in November, he said in a brief statement, “I’m honestly overwhelmed. Making this record was a great way to me to get back to work as I continued to heal. It’s pretty great to be acknowledged at this point in my career.”

Patient Number Nine came out in September 2022 and is Osbourne’s 13th solo studio album. The album features an all-star guest lineup including Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, Duff McKagan, Zakk Wylde, Josh Homme and Mike McCready. Two guests that appeared on the album were Taylor Hawkins and Jeff Beck. The Foo Fighters drummer and guitar icon have since passed away. Hawkins died in March 2022 at age 50. Beck died this year on January 10 at age 78.

Osbourne’s two wins bring the rock/metal icon to five career Grammy Awards. His first Grammy win came in 1994 when he won Best Metal Performance with Vocal for “I Don’t Want To Change The World.”

In 2000, he won another Grammy for Best Metal Performance. This time, it came as member of Black Sabbath for the live version of “Iron Man” from the band’s live album Reunion. Black Sabbath would win another Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2014 for “God Is Dead?” off their final studio album 13. Additionally, Black Sabbath won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
