Parkway Drive has released a statement after a past associate pleaded guilty to an underage sex offense from 2002. The band expressed their shock and condemnation in an Instagram post, saying, “This is appalling. We’re gutted and we support the victim.”
They clarified that this incident occurred before the band was formed, but they acknowledge their moral responsibility for hiring him from 2003 onward. The statement did not mention the individual’s name.
The band noted that while he hasn’t toured with them since 2017, he was recently part of their Australian online merchandise team. Upon learning about the guilty plea, Parkway Drive immediately terminated his contract. They confirmed he is no longer involved with the band in any way.
“This is heartbreaking on a very human scale,” the band concluded. They also mentioned that the legal process is still ongoing, so they have disabled comments on the post.
