Phil Collen on Vince Neil Getting into Touring Shape: ‘He’s Got a Year’

Phil Collen weighed in on Vince Neil and his recent solo gig where he lost his voice and had to cut his set short.

In an appearance on The Jeremy White Podcast, Collen said, “Hey, look, he’s got a year. There’s a lot at stake when you go out. You want to be your best. Hopefully, we’ll be working out together and all that stuff. That’s the other thing — we do have a camaraderie, especially with Motley Crue. With Nikki [Sixx], we were talking just before the tour [was announced], like, ‘We’re gonna work out together. We’re gonna do all this stuff.’”

Collen concluded, “With Vince, he’s got a year to go. Hopefully, everything is cool by then. I hope so. Fingers crossed.”

“The Stadium Tour,” which will feature Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, was originally set for the summer of 2020 but will now be taking place in 2022.

Neil’s solo show took place on May 29 in Boone, Iowa. While it’s not known how long his set was going to be, Neil’s show ended up being barely 14 songs. At the start of “Girl, Girls, Girls,” Neil tried to hit notes in the first verse but to no avail. He ended up bowing out and telling the crowd, “Hey guys. I’m sorry, you guys. It’s been a long time playin’. My f—in’ voice is gone. We love you and we uhh… hope to see you next time, man. Thank you.”
