Prophets of Rage Announce Debut EP, ‘The Party’s Over,’ Release Single, ‘No Sleep Til Cleveland

Next Friday (Aug. 26) will see the release of The Party’s Over, the debut EP by Prophets of Rage. The politically minded supergroup, which is comprised of members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, also released one of the songs from the EP, “No Sleep Til Cleveland,” a reworking of the Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Til Brooklyn.”

They premiered the song on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music, and you can hear it in the widget below. It was recorded live and incorporates elements of Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power.” Consequence of Sound notes that it was recorded at their charged concert at the famous Agora Theatre and Ballroom in Cleveland while last month’s Republican National Convention was taking place at that city.

It’s the second track from The Party’s Over to be released. A month ago, they began streaming “Prophets of Rage,” the Public Enemy song from which they took their name. The EP contains two other covers from their original bands, Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” and Public Enemy’s “Shut ‘Em Down,” both of which were also recorded live. The lone new song is the title track.

Pre-orders for the EP begin tomorrow (Aug. 19), the same day that they begin a two-month tour at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Va. A portion of the proceeds from their concerts will go to local charities that benefit the homeless and hungry. You can see all the dates at Prophets of Rage’s website.
