A Red Hot Chili Peppers fan made a big mistake recently. They thought they were buying tickets to see the Chili Peppers at a very intimate venue, but it turns out he bought tickets to Red NOT Chili Peppers, a cover band.
The story comes via Detroit Metro Times who report the fan in question reached out to them with his mistake. The fan, who only identifies himself as Aaron, explained he saw a social media ad for what he thought was a Chili Peppers show at the Magic Bag, a small venue in Ferndale, Mich., and tickets were only $20.
Detroit Metro Times notes about the error, “It wasn’t completely far-fetched. The longstanding Los Angeles-based rock band recently dropped its 12th studio album, ‘Unlimited Love,’ and has been promoting it with surprise shows in L.A. at smaller venues like the Fonda Theatre and Amoeba Music. Plus, frontman Anthony Kiedis is from Grand Rapids and drummer Chad Smith grew up in Bloomfield Hills.”
Aaron said he tried to reach out to the ticket vendor for a refund but was denied. While he said he was “fuming” about his mistake, he also said about the incident, “I’m just gonna let it go, man. I’m not tripping about it. I mean, I’d probably go. Sure.” (For the record: Aaron says he was “completely sober” when he made his fateful purchase.
Fortunately for Aaron, there are still some tickets available to see the actual Red Hot Chili Peppers when they play Detroit’s Comerica Park on August 14. Full ticket details can be found at RedHotChiliPeppers.com.
