Reddit’s Content Policy Prevents Metallica Fans from Talking About This Album

A Metallica fan was banned from Reddit after the mention of a certain Metallica album was flagged as violating the website’s content policy.

A Reddit user shared in the YouTube clip below that they were permanently banned for “threatening violence” following a reported comment on the Megadeth thread. The comment from this user was a response to another user asking which was the best debut from “The Big 4.” The comment read, “Kill ‘Em All was definitely what originally brought many people into the metal community. I’d say, from an objective standpoint, it would have to be Kill ‘Em All.”

The banned Reddit user shared in the caption of the YouTube clip, “Update: Reddit has still continued to completely ignore all my appeals, so I can now unfortunately say my account is as good as gone.”

This obvious misunderstanding appears to technically be a violation of rule one of Reddit’s Content Policy, which states, “Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.

Of course, one Reddit user commented on the irony of the situation. After all, Kill ’em All wasn’t the original title of Metallica’s debut album.

“Guess we’ll just have to call it ‘Metal Up Your Ass’ after all,” they noted.
