Return of the Dreads – Photos & Show Review

The opener for Return of the Dreads Tour was In This Moment. Singer, Maria Brink, along with the creepiest of guitarists and 2 burlesque-like dancers brought the bands spooky goth metal vibe to life. When describing Maria to people, we like to say she is like Lady Gaga of metal music. In This Moment performed songs including, “Sick Like Me”, “Sex Metal Barbie”, & “Whore” – where Brink wore a dunce cap displaying the word, “Whore”.

Next up was Rob Zombie. The rock star/film director was accompanied at times by a giant devil, a massive robot and a couple of alien sex dolls, that his wife, actress Sheri Moon Zombie brought to the stage while he entertained the crowd with his endless energy. Zombie’s guitarist, John 5 IMO is one of the best and most entertaining guitarists you will ever see live. Zombie played some classic tracks like “Thunder Kiss ’65,” “More Human than Human” and some covers like Tone‐Lōc’s “Wild Thing,” “We’re an American Band,” and “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which was played with John 5‘s teeth. The set was brought to a close with the trailer for Rob Zombie’s new film ‘31‘ which lead into the final track “Dragula.”

We will be reviewing and photographing Rob Zombie  again on September 15 at The Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA.

Closing out this night of the The Return of the Dreads tour was Korn. Korn has gone through a lot in the last 20+ years as a band but that hasn’t stopped them from making sure they keep the old and new school fans satisfied at their shows. Jonathon Davis belted out most of their greatest hits like “Blind,” “Coming Undone,” “Shoots and Ladders” (which included a verse of Metallica’s “One”) along with a couple of new songs “Rotting In Vain” and “Insane” from their upcoming album “Serenity of Suffering” due out on October 21, 2016.
