Rolling Stones’ RS No.9 Carnaby Launches Range Inspired By 1981 Tour

Rolling Stones photo: RS No.9 Carnaby

A new clothing range has been launched at the Rolling Stones’ official RS No.9 Carnaby store in London’s Soho. The Spring Summer 2022 collection takes its inspiration from the Hampton Coliseum (Live 1981) album, released in its own right in 2012.

The garments in the range capture a summertime vibe of coastal getaways reflected in the beach town concert, the last but one show on the band’s North American tour of 1981. The collection features “punchy pastels, bold prints and relaxed, oversized silhouettes.”

The collection is made up of snappy co-ords, t-shirts, sweatshirts and key layering pieces that function as both seamless complete looks or as cover-ups, with dreamy surfer color palettes and terry cloth sets forming bold summer staples. There are also items using the artwork of the Stones’ Still Life album, also recorded on the North American tour and released in 1982.

Sweaters, bombers, shirts, shorts

Highlights from the collection include a deep navy V neck sweater embroidered with the classic lyrics “It’s only rock and roll but I like it” and a line drawing of the Stones’ famous tongue and lips logo. There’s a statement black bomber jacket emblazoned with travel stamps evoking world tour memorabilia, and a matching shirt and short set that offsets shades of blue and yellow with hand-drawn print graphics.

The SS22 range sees a summery upgrade for the t-shirt collection, with graphics inspired by the neo-expressionist art movement. They include painterly sketches, photo hits with a hint of subtle pop art, and text-based graphics paying homage to the art deco revival of the 1980s.

The full collection is now available exclusively at the flagship store at 9 Carnaby Street in London’s Soho and for worldwide shipping at carnaby.therollingstonesshop.co.uk. Clothing prices start at £25 and sizes range from from S to XXL.
