Selena Gomez To Star In Psychological Thriller ‘Spiral’ With Drake Executive Producing

Selena Gomez will be starring in the forthcoming psychological thriller Spiral which will be executive produced by Drake. The film will be the feature directorial debut of Petra Collins.

Spiral will follow Gomez’s character, a former social media influencer who experiences a dramatic physical response to her addiction to social media: her body completely falling apart in pieces.

The film’s most recent version was written by Phoebe Fisher and Collins, while its previous draft was lead by Melissa Broder.

Adel Nur, better known as Future the Prince, will also serve as executive producer alongside Drake on Spiral. The pair have worked together in the same role capacity on HBO’s hit series Euphoria starring Zendaya.

Spiral is one of a number of recent film endeavors Gomez has taken on. The musician and actress recently wrapped filming on Only Murders in the Building, a Hulu comedy series that follows three neighbors with a true-crime obsession who find themselves embroiled in a crime scene of their own. Gomez plays Mabel Mora and stars alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin.

Since 2012, Gomez has been a part of the Hotel Transylvania animated series as the voice of Mavis, the daughter of Dracula. The fourth installment of the series, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania will be released on August 6. Its initial April 2020 release date was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gomez has been busy on all fronts. The multi-hyphenate’s HBO Max cooking series Selena + Chef was recently renewed for a third season on the streaming platform. Additionally, she releasing her debut Spanish-language EP Revelación. The project was released in March via Interscope Records and featured the Latin hits “Baila Conmigo” and “Selfish Love.”
