Sleep Token is providing the soundtrack for the hype trailer of the 2025 Game Awards, celebrating the best in video games. The trailer is now streaming on YouTube and features clips from nominated games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Hollow Knight: Silksong. All of this is set to Sleep Token’s 2023 song “Rain” from their album Take Me Back to Eden.
Geoff Keighley, the producer and host of the Game Awards, chose “Rain” for the trailer. He describes it as “an extraordinary song about pain, rebirth, and catharsis.” The song also has a special link to gaming. When Sleep Token performs “Rain” live, frontman Vessel often starts with chords from the Halo 3 theme, creating a beautiful connection to the gaming world.
Keighley reached out to the band, and they were happy to let him use the song for the trailer. The 2025 Game Awards will take place on Thursday and will stream live starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
In addition to the trailer, the ceremony will feature a performance by Evanescence. Amy Lee and the band will play their song “Afterlife,” which is from the Devil May Cry Netflix series, based on the popular video game franchise.
