Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters Drummer, Dies at 50

Taylor Hawkins, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer for the Foo Fighters has died. He was 50.

Hawkins’ death was confirmed in a statement from the Foo Fighters camp. It reads as follows:

The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.

Foo Fighters are currently on tour in South America headlining festivals and are currently in Bogota, Columbia for the Festival Estereo Picnic. BNO News reported, “Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters was found dead at a hotel in Colombia’s capital, local officials say. Cause of death unknown.

Hawkins joined the Foo Fighters in 1997. He’s appeared on nine studio releases: 1999’s There Is Nothing Left to Lose; 2002’s One By One; 2005’s In Your Honor; 2007 Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace; 2011’s Wasting Light; 2014’s Sonic Highways; 2015‘s Saint Cecilia (EP); 2017’s Concrete and Gold; and 2021’s Medicine at Midnight.
