Taylor Swift has announced the release tomorrow (25) at midnight, Eastern time, of a previously unreleased and now re-recorded song from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) – and in a further surprise, it features country star Maren Morris.
“You All Over Me (From The Vault)” has backing vocals by Morris, and Swift says of her latest work: “One thing I’ve been loving about these ‘From The Vault’ songs is that they’ve never been heard, so I can experiment, play, and even include some of my favorite artists.” It’s one of six such unissued songs on the upcoming album.
The song was produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, Swift’s collaborator on folklore, and co-written by country songwriter Scooter Carusoe. His other country co-writes include Darius Rucker’s “For The First Time,” Brett Eldredge’s “Mean To Me,” Kenny Chesney’s “Better As A Memory” and “Anything But Mine,” and Chris Janson’s “Drunk Girl.”
A Maren ‘superfan’
Swift professed herself to be a “superfan” of Morris when she introduced her unbilled appearance at the Arlington, Texas date (the latter’s home town) on Taylor’s first stadium tour, Reputation, in October 2018. They performed “The Middle” together, and afterwards Morris shared an Instagram post in which she wrote: “Did we just become best friends? Got to play my hometown stadium with this woman. Thank you @taylorswift. Congratulations on a mind-blowing tour.”
Morris then told Taste Of Country Nights that Swift “was so thoughtful to reach out and offer me the Dallas show. I was over the moon and so was my family and friends – they all got to come and we just had the best day.” The following March, Morris presented Swift with the iHeartRadio Tour of the Year Award for Reputation.
Once again there is significance in the release date of this new song from Fearless (Taylor’s Version): the digits 3/25/21 add up to 49, and the album is released on April 9, or 4/9.
