Temple of the Dog announce first-ever tour dates for 25th anniversary

The massive ’90s supergroup, featuring Chris Cornell, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, and Matt Cameron, is planning to hit the road this fall in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their self-titled album.

“We wanted to do the one thing we never got to do … play shows and see what it feels like to be the band that we walked away from 25 years ago,” Cornell explains in a press release. “This is something no one has ever seen.”

In anticipation, UMe will reissue their landmark album with an assortment of goodies fresh out of the recently uncovered masters, from demos to unheard tracks and a complete remix by producer Brendan O’Brien. Pre-orders are currently on-going for a September 30th release.

Temple of the Dog came together following the death of Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood. Cornell was not only a close friend but his roommate, and wound up writing the songs as a grieving process.

At the time, Ament and Gossard were playing with McCready and new vocalist Eddie Vedder in the early days of Pearl Jam. Vedder would appear on Temple of the Dog’s highest charting single, “Hunger Strike”.

To date, the group has only performed live a handful of times and namely with Pearl Jam. Most recently, they came together when Cornell appeared for a couple of songs during the band’s set at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall in 2015.
