The CEO of Birmingham Airport dismisses the proposal to rename it in honor of Ozzy Osbourne.

If you’re flying into Birmingham, England, don’t expect to land at Ozzy Osbourne Airport. Despite a petition to rename it after the legendary metal icon and local hero, the airport’s CEO, Nick Barton, confirmed it won’t happen.

Barton mentioned that Birmingham has a rich history of influential figures, including Charles Darwin, Robert Plant, and Sir Lenny Henry. He emphasized that the airport’s name is crucial for its future growth. “We have a fantastic airport, and we plan to expand significantly,” he said.

The airport will keep its current name, Birmingham Airport, with the code BHX. However, fans of Ozzy can look forward to a mural celebrating him and other famous Brummies.

In other news, Ozzy recently received the Lord Mayor’s Award posthumously on what would have been his 77th birthday. It’s a nice tribute to the Prince of Darkness from his hometown.
