In 1995, The Cranberries took the stage for MTV Unplugged to promote their album No Need To Argue, released the year before. Now, for the first time, the full audio of that performance is being released on CD and vinyl. The special white vinyl edition comes with an 11×11 lithograph of the band in action.
The 9-song set lasts about 45 minutes and includes fan favorites like “Linger” and “Zombie.” No Need to Argue was the Irish band’s second album, following their debut, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? The album features the powerful protest song “Zombie,” which addresses the Troubles in Northern Ireland. During their MTV Unplugged performance, they also played “Dreaming My Dreams,” “Ode To My Family,” “Empty,” and the title track “No Need to Argue.”
In addition, they performed “Free To Decide” and “I’m Still Remembering” from their upcoming third album, To the Faithful Departed, set to release in 1996. The set also includes the unreleased single “Yesterday’s Gone.”
This October, The Cranberries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of No Need to Argue with special editions. A 3LP version will feature remastered audio from the original producer, Stephen Street, along with live recordings from Woodstock ‘94 and their MTV Unplugged set. The anniversary edition will also include remixes of “Zombie” and “Ode to My Family” by Iain Cook from CHVRCHES.
