In 1920, Sherwin Badger won the men’s title at the U.S. Men’s Figure Skating Championships. Fast forward to 1934, and Babe Didrikson Zaharias made history by pitching a hitless inning for the Philadelphia A’s in an exhibition game against the Brooklyn Dodgers.

In 1949, Peggy Kirk claimed the Ladies Professional Golf Association Titleholders Championship, her only major title. That same year, Maurice Richard became the first NHL player to score eight hat-tricks in a single season.

In 1965, UCLA won back-to-back NCAA titles by beating Michigan 91-80. The NFL announced a new playoff format in 1970, expanding the postseason from eight to ten teams.

In 1988, Mike Tyson knocked out Tony Tubbs in the second round, while Wayne Gretzky scored his 600th career goal. Fast forward to 1995, when Michael Jordan returned to the Bulls and scored 32 points in his first home game back.
