Is Tom DeLonge back in blink-182? It’s a question that lots of pop-punk fans of a certain age have been asking themselves lately.
This past week, the former blink guitarist and co-vocalist seemed to imply that he was rejoining the band. On Monday (Aug. 1), Kerrang! noted that DeLonge’s current Instagram bio now states, “I make music,” tagging blink-182’s and Angels & Airwaves’ official accounts. Does that mean he’s back in the fold?
That bio line is new, and it does use the present tense, so it’s possible. It seems he made the change over the weekend, which is another indication for a possible rekindling.
DeLonge and blink-182 parted ways in 2015. Blink’s remaining members, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, got Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba to replace him. They released two albums together, 2016’s California and 2019’s Nine. But even Skiba is questioning if he’s still in the band. Rumors started to emerge about a possible DeLonge and blink reunion after Hoppus finished chemotherapy last year. Time will tell if anything comes of this rumor.
