Trent Reznor is returning to the world of video games.
The Nine Inch Nails frontman and his bandmate/scoring partner Atticus Ross are creating the music for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the newly announced upcoming title from the studio Naughty Dog, the developer behind the Uncharted and The Last of Us games.
“The guys are cooking, and the trailer is just a small tease of their work for the game,” Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann says of Reznor and Ross.
You can watch said trailer on YouTube.
Reznor previously scored the 1996 video game Quake. He also composed the theme to 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II and was a music consultant for 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight.
Of course, Reznor has been much more involved in the movie and TV scoring worlds over the last 15 years, winning Oscars alongside Ross for the films The Social Network and Soul. The pair’s score for 2024’s Challengers has so far picked up nominations for the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.
