Wallaby Escapes from and Returned to South Jersey Animal Farm

A wallaby named Rex, who escaped from Lots of Love Farm in Williamstown, New Jersey, has made his way back home. Rex took off on Monday, December 29, 2025, and was spotted crossing the street near East Malaga Road and South Black Horse Pike. He almost got hit by a car!

People also reported seeing Rex at Walmart. The farm shared on social media that he was finally found at the Williamstown Walmart on Tuesday, December 30. They thanked everyone for their help, saying, “He must really like Walmart! LOL.”

A group of teenagers, including Gavin Buniak, helped catch Rex after he spent nearly a whole day hopping around Gloucester County. Ron Layden, the owner of Lots of Love, mentioned that Rex might have escaped because someone accidentally left his pen open around 4 or 5 p.m. on the day he got out.

The farm also mentioned that a drone pet-locating company assisted in the search for Rex. Wallabies are smaller relatives of kangaroos and use their long tails for balance while hopping around on their strong hind legs. These cute creatures are native to the South Pacific, including Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Rex’s adventure had everyone talking, and it’s great to see him back where he belongs!
