At 70 years old and fighting breast cancer, Wells Knight from Mesa got to see Nine Inch Nails live at Phoenix’s Footprint Center on September 16. Thanks to AARP’s Wish of a Lifetime program, her dream came true.
Wells’ caretaker submitted the request after noticing her selfless acts. Even while battling cancer, Wells has been giving away walkers and wheelchairs to those in need in her senior community. This generosity caught the attention of the program.
“I believe that the more you give, the more you get back,” Wells said. The Phoenix show was part of Nine Inch Nails’ Peel It Back Tour, marking the band’s return to North America after three years. They wrapped up the tour with two final shows in Los Angeles on September 18-19.
Wells shared her thoughts on kindness, saying, “The two words: be kind. What you say might cheer someone up in a way you don’t know.”
Her taste in music leans towards hard rock, with favorites like Tool, A Perfect Circle, Linkin Park, and Korn. AARP’s program aims to create special moments for older adults, helping them fulfill their dreams and keep their spirits high.
Wells also faced personal loss when cancer took her husband not long ago. Despite her struggles, she continues to inspire others with her kindness and love for music.
