Trace Adkins’ ‘Honky Tonk Badonkadonk’ Remixed By MOONLGHT and Country Night

Trace Adkins’ “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” has received a new remix from producers MOONLGHT and Country Night.

Based in Nashville, the producers have previously collaborated on remixes, including a recent one for “I Had Some Help” by Morgan Wallen and Post Malone. The pair released a joint EP, Empty Bottles, in 2024 and also performed together at the most recent edition of Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California.

First released in 2005, the inspiration for the original track was simple: co-writers Jamey Johnson, Dallas Davidson and Randy Houser saw a young woman out dancing at the club one night, and came up with the cheeky title as a description for her alluring figure. Within an hour, they had completed the song—it appeared on Adkins’ 2005 record Songs About Me, and would become his first Top 40 hit on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts. In 2022, the record was certified 3x Platinum.

Since its release, “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” has also appeared in a number of films, TV shows and video games. It featured in 2009’s Crank: High Voltage, as well as episodes of The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson and The X Files. It also appears on the in-game radio station on Thrillville, a strategy video game set in a theme park.

Adkins released his most recent album, The Way I Wanna Go, in 2021. It featured collaborations with Luke Bryan, Pitbull, Blake Shelton, Melissa Etheridge, Pitbull, Stevie Wonder, and Snoop Dogg. Earlier this month, Adkins also shared a themed playlist in honor of Memorial Day, featuring patriotic catalog cuts like “Arlington,” “Semper Fi,” “American Man,” and “Tough People Do.”
