Godsmack ‘1000HP’ Album Gets Vinyl Release

Godsmack’s sixth album 1000HP is getting a vinyl release. Originally released in 2014, the new pressings will include a standard black vinyl edition and a limited-edition color vinyl version. Both are set for an Aug. 8 release.

The black vinyl will feature the original album cover with all remastered tracks. The limited edition vinyl will include the album’s alternate cover (previously only available in all non-U.S. markets), a bonus 7” single of “Inside Yourself,” and “Life Is Good,” which is appearing on vinyl for the first time.

1000HP was mixed and produced by Dave Fortman, who worked with Godsmack on their previous album, The Oracle. It featured singles like “1000hp,” “Something Different,” and “What’s Next.” The Boston rockers were revered for pushing their musical boundaries on 1000HP, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its 2014 release.

The album’s new vinyl set follows the announcement of 2010’s The Oracle vinyl release back in March. It came in two versions: a standard black vinyl and a limited-edition “Saints and Sinners” deluxe edition, which paid homage to the record’s working title.

Formed in 1992, Godsmack consists of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Sully Erna, bassist Robbie Merrill, lead guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin. Over the past 20 years, the band has earned 13 No. 1 singles on rock radio and four Grammy nominations. Lighting Up The Sky, their eighth album, was released in 2023.

“It’s that human connection and chemistry you develop over the years. And the way that Sully writes stuff on the drums, if you close your eyes and listen to it, even though it’s just the drums, you can hear the riff on the guitar,” Merrill shared with uDiscover back in May. “And then he pushes and pulls on purpose. He doesn’t care if people think he has a shitty meter, it’s got nothing to do with that. The mood of the song depends on that pushing and pulling and if it stays on the click, it doesn’t work. When we drag stuff, we do it on purpose. People will say to me, “You guys dragged the chorus of ‘Awake’ – yeah, we fucking do it on purpose, every time, every night.”

Order Godsmack’s 1000HP on vinyl now.
