Richie Sambora is on the mend after undergoing hand surgery due to an accident while playing touch football. The former Bon Jovi guitarist had emergency surgery months ago to fix a fracture in his hand. The procedure involved rebreaking his hand to reset it properly. Sources say Sambora is working with sports medicine doctors to ensure a full recovery, and his healing rate is reportedly double what is typical for this type of injury.
Sambora seems to be doing well. On July 11, which was also his 66th birthday, he shared an audio clip with the caption, “I was BORN TO ROCK! – My birthday gift to you.”
This year, Sambora has made a few appearances on stage and in the media. One notable moment was in April when he hinted at feeling sidelined in the songwriting process with Bon Jovi before his departure in 2013. After finishing his 2012 solo album, “Aftermath of the Lowdown,” he reached out to Jon Bon Jovi to start working on new songs. To his surprise, Jon had already collaborated with producer John Shanks on several tracks.
Sambora admitted that hearing Jon write without him was a shock, especially given their long history together. He listened to the new songs but wasn’t impressed. “It didn’t sound like Bon Jovi. It sounded like every song that I didn’t want to write,” he said.
Fans are eager to see what’s next for Sambora as he continues his recovery and navigates his musical journey.
