Teenage boy plotted a terror attack on the inaugural Oasis reunion concert

A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court for allegedly planning an attack at the first show of Oasis’ reunion tour. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was at Westminster Magistrates’ Court facing charges related to this plan. He is accused of wanting to carry out an attack similar to the tragic incident at a dance school in Southport last year.

Reports say he was looking into how to get large knives and even sent a photo of a blade to a friend, asking, “Would this work?” The boy is from near Cwmbran, South Wales. Prosecutors revealed that he told friends about his plan to attack the opening night of Oasis’ reunion tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4.

The teenager had also expressed admiration for Axel Rudakubana, who was responsible for the deaths of nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, six-year-old Bebe King, and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe during a dance class in Southport last year. Rudakubana injured ten others in his attack and received a minimum prison sentence of 52 years in early 2025.

The boy’s plans came to light when someone he spoke to on Snapchat reported him to the police. He had a counseling appointment on June 2 after his family raised concerns. During the session, he praised Rudakubana, prompting the counselor to alert authorities.

Prosecutors noted that the teenager had researched Rudakubana and saved images mocking the victims. He also looked up knives and transferred an Al-Qaeda training manual between phones. While he has been charged with possessing a document useful for terrorism, there is no evidence he held a specific terrorist ideology. His case has been sent to Crown Court for sentencing.
